Saturday, March 23, 2019, is my official first day of the keto diet.
I weighed in on day one as 167lbs.
My day began with a light breakfast consisting of sausage and fried eggs. At 11:00AM I went to my first appointment with the Texas Weight Loss center where I received various useful information on what the keto diet is, what I should be eating, and what I should be doing to reach my weight goal.
At Dr. Jolly's office, I was weighed in (169lbs) and vitals were taken by the nurse. After that, I went to a viewing room and watched a 5 minute video explaining the gist of keto, what it does to your body, and how it benefits in weight loss.
What is keto?
After the video, I met with Dr. Jolly and we went over the things I currently eat and that they would all need to be cut out for keto. 🙁
I was given a list of "good keto foods" and Dr. Jolly instructed me on portion control of my meals.
After meeting with Dr. Jolly, she prescribed me water pills to help eliminate excess water. Removing this excess water will allow my body to properly go into ketosis. I was also prescribed appetite suppressants which will help me to crave food less often.
When I received the RX, I went to the nurse's room to get a B12 (for energy) and Lipoden (Lipotropic compounds are substances that help stimulate the breakdown of lipid (fat) during metabolism and, in this way, reduce the accumulation of excess fat in the liver and other tissues. - The Lipoden targets the belly area) shots. 4 B12 shots are included in the package, but I had to pay for the lipoden shot.
They're currently running a special on their lipoden shots (4 for $60)
I then paid for my visit and was sent on my way.👀👀
After my visit to TWC, I was pumped and ready to start my keto journey! But first, I needed to buy some keto friendly food. So I made a stop at Trader Joe's (my first time ever being in there) and Kroger. I had a specific budget of $70 and thankfully, I got everything under budget.
I also filled my prescriptions at Kroger!!
So I tried my first keto meal.😁
PIZZA!
I got this easy recipe off of Instagram y'all and it was oh so yummy!
Sorry, I didn't measure anything out. I just covered the frying pan with mozzarella cheese and then sprinkled some parmesan cheese on top and added Volpi gourmet pepperoni. You want to do this all under medium heat.
I covered the pan with the top and let the pizza cook for about 8 minutes. Using a spatula I transferred the pizza to a plate and sprinkled it with parsley and crushed red peppers. I later added some cayenne pepper which was awesome!
I started the water pill on this day and had it with my lunch. Right away I was already running to the restroom. That thing works super fast!
I later took a nap from my eventful day. LOL!
When I woke, the time was setting in for dinner ( I plan to not have any meals after 9PM)
Dinner consisted of chicken "breaded' in pork grinds (0 carbs! Yes!), and fried collard greens.
I began by blending a half bag of Brim's pork grinds and added a fourth of a maggie cube for extra flavor.
I then lightly seasoned my chicken washing and pat drying it, then adding Italian season and a bit of Lawry's season salt.
I baked the chicken while I prepared the greens. Rinse, boil and fried with onions and bacon. seasoned with the rest of the maggie cube. pinch of season salt, some cayenne pepper. and habanero pepper for some heat.
