Monday? Or a pee-fest?

Monday, and I'm back to work. These water pills are working my system, and it's bathroom breaks every couple of minutes!

Let's start this off with a morning weigh in. Seeing this just made me so hype for this diet! I was seeing results instantly (even though I knew it was the shedding of water weight.)

I decided to try intermittent fasting for this work week since I started the appetite suppressants. It was very easy due to the pills. I didn't feel hungry at all. I did, however, experience dry mouth all day causing me to constantly drink and run to the ladies room. LOL!

LUNCHTIME!

I had lunch at noon, breaking my fast.

Lunch consisted of some leftovers I had from Papadeux Friday evening (I sadly had to throw out the pasta and garlic bread. Thank God I had a lot of shrimp and crawfish in my Past Mardi Gras). I added some baby spinach and a bit of the breaded chicken from Sunday's dinner.

Side comment: The appetite suppressants kept me full for the rest of the day. Also, I did experience some headache pains by the end of the day.

Curiosity prompted me to check my weight, and I lost 0.4lbs lol

DIN DIN - 7:30pm
I'm going to say this is the BEST meal I've had since starting keto (Yes, I know it's only been like 2 days). Can we say keto burger? Yes, please!

Picked up these 0 carb burger patties at Sam's club for $14. They're so delicious. Just put them on a frying pan and let each side cook for 5 mins. I added cheese while cooking the second side, I also added bacon and onions.

Sunday Keto

This'll be a short one y'all.
I diverted from the pinterest recipe and ended up with a HOT FUNKY MESS! Luckily I was able to save the batter by adding more milk.

Eventually I got the hang of cooking with coconut flour... after almos an hour I had a few pancakes I could actually eat. OMG!

I spent most of my day at my mom's house drinking tons of water, and those water pills did not quit. I also started the appetite surpressants at around 7AM. Didn't feel hungry within 30 minutes, even while prepping breakfast.

For dinner I wasn't too hungry. I decided to do a simple cheese roll with parm, turkey, and pepperoni. I added a boiled egg with canyene pepper for protien.

Most of my day and evening consisted of drinking lemon & ginger tea or water.
So, I started keto y'all!

Saturday, March 23, 2019, is my official first day of the keto diet.

I weighed in on day one as 167lbs.

My day began with a light breakfast consisting of sausage and fried eggs. At 11:00AM I went to my first appointment with the Texas Weight Loss center where I received various useful information on what the keto diet is, what I should be eating, and what I should be doing to reach my weight goal.

At Dr. Jolly's office, I was weighed in (169lbs) and vitals were taken by the nurse. After that, I went to a viewing room and watched a 5 minute video explaining the gist of keto, what it does to your body, and how it benefits in weight loss.

What is keto?

After the video, I met with Dr. Jolly and we went over the things I currently eat and that they would all need to be cut out for keto. 🙁
I was given a list of "good keto foods" and Dr. Jolly instructed me on portion control of my meals.

After meeting with Dr. Jolly, she prescribed me water pills to help eliminate excess water. Removing this excess water will allow my body to properly go into ketosis. I was also prescribed appetite suppressants which will help me to crave food less often.

When I received the RX, I went to the nurse's room to get a B12 (for energy) and Lipoden (Lipotropic compounds are substances that help stimulate the breakdown of lipid (fat) during metabolism and, in this way, reduce the accumulation of excess fat in the liver and other tissues. - The Lipoden targets the belly area) shots. 4 B12 shots are included in the package, but I had to pay for the lipoden shot.

They're currently running a special on their lipoden shots (4 for $60)

I then paid for my visit and was sent on my way.👀👀

After my visit to TWC, I was pumped and ready to start my keto journey! But first, I needed to buy some keto friendly food. So I made a stop at Trader Joe's (my first time ever being in there) and Kroger. I had a specific budget of $70 and thankfully, I got everything under budget.
I also filled my prescriptions at Kroger!!

When I got home, I was pooped and hungry! I had not eaten since 7AM and I got home after 3PM. Let's go with I was starving.

So I tried my first keto meal.😁
PIZZA!
I got this easy recipe off of Instagram y'all and it was oh so yummy!

Sorry, I didn't measure anything out. I just covered the frying pan with mozzarella cheese and then sprinkled some parmesan cheese on top and added Volpi gourmet pepperoni. You want to do this all under medium heat.

I covered the pan with the top and let the pizza cook for about 8 minutes. Using a spatula I transferred the pizza to a plate and sprinkled it with parsley and crushed red peppers. I later added some cayenne pepper which was awesome!

I started the water pill on this day and had it with my lunch. Right away I was already running to the restroom. That thing works super fast!

I later took a nap from my eventful day. LOL!

When I woke, the time was setting in for dinner ( I plan to not have any meals after 9PM)

Dinner consisted of chicken "breaded' in pork grinds (0 carbs! Yes!), and fried collard greens.

I began by blending a half bag of Brim's pork grinds and added a fourth of a maggie cube for extra flavor.

I then lightly seasoned my chicken washing and pat drying it, then adding Italian season and a bit of Lawry's season salt.

I baked the chicken while I prepared the greens. Rinse, boil and fried with onions and bacon. seasoned with the rest of the maggie cube. pinch of season salt, some cayenne pepper. and habanero pepper for some heat.

Starting Keto?

I've been stuggling with weight gain for some months now, and decided its time to take matters into my own hands. I just haven't been feeling myself, and I'm not happy about the way I look. I'm always tired and sluggish, minor activities get me winded and sweaty, and my bones just feel like their holding extra (FAT!).
So I've decided to go on a diet - The Keto Diet!

THIS WEEKEND

I have a chain of emotions. I'm excited, scared, nervous, determined... I'm excited because I've seen results with my own eyes. I'm scared, because what if I can't be as diciplined as I need to. Nervous, because I've never been on a diet before. This should be interesting...

I've made sure to do my own research of the keto diet, and put together what I believe will work for me. I have a goal of losing about 20-25 pounds. Ideally I want to lose it all by my birthday (4/18)

😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Wishful thinking? Maybe, but I'm determined.

My current weight is 166 (it fluctuates throughout the day though... Mornings I can be as low as 164. After eating a heavy meal I can weigh as much as 169)

I'm Back!!

After 7 years, I'm back and better than ever!
So, what have I been up to you might ask?

Well, if we take a step back you all remember I had recently moved to Houston. I didn't know many people other than family so I decided to create my youtube channel "Chiclildevil". There I was able to express myself through my love for beauty and fashion. It was really just a fun outlet to pass some time. I started taking online classes at the community college since moving from New York was a huge expense.

I continued my education and proudly became a Tiger at Texas Southern University!

I graduated with my Bachelors in Science for Pre-med, however, I  didn't get in to medical school, was devastated in not knowing what to do since medicine was my only goal.  I later decided to go for my Master which I am currently persuing!

Somewhere in that educational debockel, I went from single to married 🤣🤣

I met the love of my life in 2014 (this is another story for another time) and we've been inceprable ever since.

I've reconnected with some old friends (seems like everyone wants to move to Houston from the East Coast) and made quite a bit of new aquaintences and life long friends.

Why am I back?

I'm now 27, (28 next month) and going through a lot of changes that I just want to document for myslelf, and express mydelf. If by chance I inspire someone along the way, that'll be AWESOME!
I plan to blog more often.. Lets see how it goes.
